Too Many Years Invested to Wager

With the hype of the game (Vikings vs Saints) tomorrow evening, there has been talk about whether the Vikings fans and Saints fans will have another "battle for the bar."  We have even received a couple calls from reporters to confirm the story.  The answer....is NO.  We will not be "wagering" our part of the bar for this game.  We will NEVER wager our part of the bar...because in fact, it is a VIKINGS BAR and has been for a lot longer than the Saints.

Back in 1993, when Bar None opened, it became the home to a group of Vikings fans living in New York City.  Former owner Aryl Robison, along with a few friends would meet up at Bar None each week to catch the Vikings games.  In the beginning they weren't able to get all the NFL games, so the group would meet up, go to a different bar airing the game to cheer on the Vikes, and then end back at Bar None to drink and chat.  This continued for a few years until the bar got satellite equipment in 1996 and was able to show all the games.

"The first few years there were probably about 6-10 Vikings fans, but as the years went on the fan club steadily grew and easily became the biggest fan club in the bar" Robison said.  In 2006 the Saints fans started occupying the back room of the bar and since then it has been called a Vikings/Saints bar.

Last year with the hype of the two teams doing so well and the NFC championship on the line, there was talk of a "battle for the bar."  We, the Vikings fans immediately declined that wager.  We have been going to Bar None for almost 20 years, keeping it a place that is known to Vikings fans and we would never take that away from them.

Rumors have even started this year, but again...we will not wager OUR bar.  We plan on being there for another 20 years and beyond.  Bar None IS the VIKINGS NYC bar and will remain that way for a long time.
